You can never have enough clamps … and some times there is a large piece you want to glue up and your clamps are too short.  Well fear not you can make and effective clamp, and you can make it as long and you need.

I suggest making these out of 1×2 red oak if you are going to reuse them. The holes will hold up better and not elongate over time like they will in fir or pine.

The clamping pressure is applied by using a wedge and taping into place between the adjustable head and the work piece.  If you are gluing up a long set of boards  and using multiples of these clamps, apply the pressure as evenly as possible by tapping each wedge lightly once then repeating until the work piece is tight.  The further you tap the wedge the higher the clamping pressure is.
