Louisiana-Pacific Wins Partner Of Choice AwardAug 3rd – NASHVILLE, TN – Louisiana-Pacific Corporation (NYSE: LPX) received the award of Partner Of Choice for 2011 from the second largest private builder in the US David Weekly Homes.  The award was for service excellence.  The Supply Chain VP at David Weekly, Bill Justus, sorted through 150 supplier evaluation forms and came up with 17 winners which deserved an award this year.

Louisiana-Pacific (LP®) is a manufacturer of building materials used in both new construction and repair and remodel work.

For the 2nd quarter 2011 sales slumped by 19% from a year ago to $362mm.  Oriented Stand Board (OSB) pricing was indicated for the decline.  This was in line with the starts of new homes that was down four percent for the same quarter a year ago.

Segment returns from the business segments for 2011 Q2 were:

  • OSB net sales $141mm a declined 35% from 2010 Q2
  • Siding $119mm a decline of 9% from 2010 Q2
  • Engineered Wood Products (EWP) net sales of $54mm a decline of 4% from 2010 Q2

According to the CEO Rick Frost the unsettled U.S. economy will remain an issue for the remainder of 2011 as demand will swing dramatically.
